Making DeFi positions auditable.

General ledger.

Overview

I co-founded Venato, and designed and developed its DeFi portfolio ledger and P&L engine across about 100 protocols. Lukka, a US-based on-chain data company, acquired the software.

Problem statement

DeFi strategies span a dozen protocols and several wallets: collateral here, borrowed funds staked there. Block explorers list transactions but do not explain them, and tax, compliance and asset-management teams had no reliable way to reconstruct what a portfolio held, what it earned and why.

Solution

A general ledger from the chain.

I reconstructed wallet activity across protocols into a ledger, with transaction-path inspection and manual overrides where reference data is wrong.

An analytical engine.

I built full P&L analysis, selectable attribution methods and exchange-rate sources, plus historical balances and real-time snapshots.

Method-level classification.

I classify each transaction by its contract method, with reference data maintained through an admin console. Missing method definitions, address labels and exchange-rate settings are designed to be filled through a crowd-sourced model with token incentives for data contributors.

Pricing for illiquid assets.

I implemented valuation of exotic, non-tradable derivative tokens and automatic discovery of liquidity pools to price new ones.

Open to institutions.

I provided an API feed for tax, compliance, DAO dashboards and asset managers across about 100 protocols.

Outcome

Lukka acquired the core software that I designed and developed, for integration into its institutional analytics suite.
